E-Safety
In today's world, digital technologies are an essential resource in supporting the learning and teaching of young people, as well as playing an important role in the everyday lives of children, young people and adults. E-safety is about learning how to use the internet and digital devices in a safe, responsible, and respectful way in today’s world. It is crucial that children know how to protect their personal information, recognise potential risks, and make positive choices online, ensuring they stay safe while enjoying the many benefits of technology.
At School
Here at St Alban & St Stephen Catholic Primary School & Nursery we take online safety extremely seriously and have made this a focus within the school. Online safety is taught throughout the year as part of our Computing scheme, Kapow. It is also taught within our PSHE and RHE lessons using the Diocesan-approved scheme TenTen. We regularly raise awareness of the need for online safety through regular assemblies and Online Safety Day activities in February. This is to ensure all pupils are aware of how to use technology safely both in and out of school and know who to approach if they have any worries or concerns about anything they have seen online. We ask all parents and pupils to sign our Online Safety Acceptable Use Agreement.

At Home
As parents and carers, you will be aware of the important role the internet plays in children’s lives. It is used for learning, play, communication and creativity, and offers many positive opportunities. However, we recognise that the online world can sometimes feel overwhelming, and parents may have concerns about issues such as online bullying, contact with strangers, or access to inappropriate content.

Age-Ratings for Films, TV, Games and Apps
Age ratings are a helpful guide for families. They support parents in choosing films, games, TV programmes and apps that are suitable for their child’s age and stage of development, helping children enjoy media safely and appropriately. If children access age-inappropriate content, they can become anxious, or take things they see in films and games and ‘play them out’ in the playground, which can lead to children getting hurt.
