Welcome

Welcome to St Alban & St Stephen Catholic Primary School & Nursery! Our school is a vibrant, caring community where children are inspired to thrive as they learn and grow with God by their side. We provide a warm and welcoming environment where every child is known, valued and celebrated for who they are.

Rooted in our Catholic faith, we live daily through kindness, respect and compassion, fostering strong relationships and positive behaviour. With enthusiastic children, dedicated staff, ambitious governors and supportive parents working together, our school flourishes through strong partnerships and a shared sense of purpose. Our high academic standards are matched by outstanding personal development, giving children the confidence, skills and curiosity to dream big and fulfil their God-given potential.

Set in beautiful grounds and conveniently located near to St Albans City station, our school is easily accessible and provides a safe and stimulating environment for learning and play. Our dedicated Early Years building offers a nurturing start to school life, while a wide range of trips, clubs and whole-school events ensures that every day is engaging, enriching and unmissable.

This website offers a glimpse into life at St Alban & St Stephen, but nothing compares to visiting us in person. We value strong partnerships with parents and carers, recognising their vital role in supporting each child’s journey. Please contact us at admin@ssas.herts.sch.uk to find out more or to arrange a visit.

We look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful school.

From the moment you come into our school you can feel the warmth and kindness which make every day so special at our school. There is a great school community and every child is valued and supported to achieve their own personal potential. Whilst I am not Catholic myself, I support the strong ethos and values of the school. The EYFS team are amazing which is such a lovely start to school life. There are all sorts of great activities offered to our children like regular visits from an environmental tutor and special history workshops as well as numerous school trips to support their current learning. In addition, the school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, which support physical development, creativity, and confidence-building. The effort that goes into everything from pastoral care to Senco support to every single Nativity play is outstanding. The Head is very present and involved in the day-to-day events which reinforces the feeling of care and community. We also liked the fact the school is a split site as the children have playgrounds and play equipment tailored to their age on each site. The move from being 'little kids' on the lower site to 'big kids' on the upper site is an exciting milestone and great preparation for eventually moving on to secondary school. My children go school with a smile on their face every day!
